
This simple little headband is easy to make and requires no increasing or decreasing. The natural tension of the different ribs used form the shape for you. A quick to make little project for an inexperienced knitter.
Materials & Tools

- 1 pair of 2.75 mm needles
- 50 g of any colors of the Mineral Series Merino Wool
Here we have used Graphite Mineral Wool
Size:Â Length 55 cm x 10 cm wide at the widest part
Tension:Â Woven rib 10 cm square 28stsx 36 rows
Abbreviations
- K: knit
- p: purl
- RS: right side
- tbl: through the back of loop
- WR: wrong side
The Directions

 Using 2.75 mm needles cast on 29 sts
Woven Rib
ROW1: RS knit to end
ROW2: knit to end
ROW3: p1, (k1tbl, p1) to end of row
ROW4: k1, (p1tbl, k1) to end of row
These four rows form the pattern for the Woven Rib. Repeat rows 1-4 twice more and rows 1 & 2 once more.
Broken Rib
Change to broken rib
ROW1: k1, (p1tbl, k1) to end of row
ROW2: Purl to end
These two rows form the pattern for the Broken Rib. Repeat rows 1-2 in this section four times more.
Commencing with Woven rib again, complete Woven rib and Broken rib sections 3 more times. Knit 2 rows.
Twisted Rib
ROW1: RS p1, (k1tbl, p1) to end of row.
ROW2: k1, (p1tbl, k1)
These two rows form the pattern for a twisted rib. Repeat these two rows until work measures 12cms from the beginning of Twisted Rib section.
Reversing the order and commencing with Broken rib, repeat Broken rib and Woven rib sections 3 more times.
Repeat Broken rib section only once more.
Cast off
Central Decorative Band
Using 2.75 mm needles cast on 9 sts
Work the 4 rows of Woven Rib only as before, repeat rows 1-4 nine times.
Cast off.
To make up
Fit decorative band around the centre of the Twisted rib section and join ends on the underside. Using a mattress stitch join the ends of the band together. The rib will stretch to form a snug fit. Sew in threads, press the edges of the band.
